Tension-type Headache is the most common type of headache, almost everyone is affected once in their life and one third of people experience tension headaches regularly. The headache is usually felt throughout the head, in the forehead, in the back of the head, band-like around the head or like a vise. The pain is usually of low to moderate intensity and lasts for hours or days. Accompanying symptoms are largely absent. Occasional tension headaches can be treated with analgesics, but these should be used only when the pain is more severe. For frequent or chronic tension headaches, preventive treatment is required.
