Outpatient Clinic for Epilepsy

Information on epilepsy

Epilepsy is a chronic noncommunicable disease of the brain that affects people of all ages. About 0.8% of population or approximately 60 million people worldwide suffer from epilepsy. It is estimated that up to 2/3 of epilepsy patients are seizure-free if properly diagnosed and treated.

In our Epilepsy Center, we offer the highest level of diagnostic abilities and state-of-the-art treatment options for epilepsy. Our multidisciplinary specialists include epileptologists, neuropsychologists and other professionals, who work together to make sure our patients receive comprehensive care. Since our unit is a part of a large research university, we are constantly learning about newer or different treatments that may help our patients.
Large number of patients receive specialized care and treatment in our outpatient clinics. Our team evaluates new onset seizures promptly using the most advanced technologies.  The faculty is widely experienced in classification of epilepsy, selection of the appropriate medical therapy and adjusting the medications for optimal outcome. Adult neurology floor is equipped with a four-bed Video-EEG monitoring unit. Long-term Video-EEG monitoring is a key for proper management of epilepsy. The patients are monitored for an extended period of time to establish the diagnosis. Since1994 we have been evaluating the patients with drug resistant epilepsies for possible surgical intervention. Our team of neurosurgeons is one of the most advanced in the country. We continue to tirelessly work to develop new approaches in the surgical treatment of epilepsy.
We focus on people with their individual needs. Our ultimate goal is to provide expertise in the field of epilepsy using innovative diagnostic technologies and therapeutic interventions.
