Outpatient Clinic for Headache and Facial Pain

General Informations about Headache

Headache is the most common symptom in neurology. Tension headache and migraine are the second and third most common illnesses worldwide. Patients with recurrent headaches are cared for in cooperation between general practitioners, established neurologists and specialized headache centers.
The Headache Outpatient Clinic of the Department of Neurology was founded in 1970 and cares for patients with recurrent and chronic headaches that cannot be clearly diagnosed or do not respond adequately to treatment by established neurologists.
The care is provided in collaboration with the established neurological practice sector. In selected cases, other departments of  the General Hospital of Vienna ensure a wide range of cooperation options.
Headache sufferers and their relatives will find some basic information about important headaches and facial pain, as well as media articles about headache. They can find out about the latest developments, ongoing studies, and a number of downloads are available to patients as well as physicians. Some of the information is only available in German.
For an initial appointment at the Headache Outpatient Clinic, please see the information under "Contact".
