We know of more than 200 different forms of headache or facial pain. A detailed medical examination is essential in order to make an accurate diagnosis. Together with the results of the neurological examination, it must be decided whether and, if so, which further examinations are necessary.
In the vast majority of patients with headache, no underlying disease can be identified. Among these so-called primary headaches are migraine, tension headache and cluster headache.
